Vihiga County Referral Hospital (VCRH) has initiated a program offering complimentary screening and corrective measures for Fistula disorder.
Fistula, an abnormal tunnel formation diverting waste from the anus, is addressed through the clinic led by Dr. Maureen Okango.
Caused by prolonged labor, pelvic surgery, infection, or injury, Fistula’s embarrassing effects can be alleviated.
Collaborating with the Fistula Foundation, VCRH’s clinic attends to approximately five cases monthly.
Dr. Okango urges expectant mothers to seek skilled care during childbirth to prevent Fistula and complications.
