Police in Nakuru County have launched investigations into a tragic incident that occurred in Nakuru on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, after a man collapsed and tragically lost his life after consuming alcohol.

According to police reports, the 59-year-old man, a regular patron of the club, arrived in his ‘local’ as usual and had a few drinks.

However, after consuming alcohol, he began vomiting blood and subsequently collapsed, leading to his untimely demise.

The staff at the establishment, located in Nakuru City’s CBD, called the police around 7 p.m. when the man collapsed.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found the man had already died. There was evidence of vomit which contained blood near the deceased’s body.

The club’s staff confirmed that the deceased was a regular customer who frequented the establishment and was well known.

NACADA issued a report on the usage of drugs showing that one out of eight Kenyans in the age bracket of 15 to 65 consume alcohol.

“We went there and found a man who had collapsed. But before he collapsed, it looked like he had vomited blood. He was however dead by the time we arrived at the scene,” said Martin Wekesa, the Nakuru East Deputy Police Commander.

Police reports indicate that the man’s demise might be attributed to excessive alcohol consumption, coupled with insufficient food intake, which could have jeopardized his health.

The deceased’s body has been transported to the PNN mortuary in Nakuru, awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of his death.
