Ezra Chiloba, the Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), has been suspended from his position. The suspension was officially announced on Monday evening through an internal memo issued by Mary Mungai, the chairperson of the authority.
In the wake of Chiloba’s suspension, Mr. Christopher Wambua has been appointed as the Acting Director General, effective immediately and until further notice.
The memo stated, “Following a meeting of the Authority’s Board held on 18th September 2023, resulting in the suspension of the Director General, I am pleased to inform all staff of the appointment of Mr. Christopher Wambua as Director General in Acting Capacity effective today until further notice.”
The specific reasons behind Chiloba’s suspension were not immediately disclosed.
Ezra Chiloba, previously known for his role as the CEO of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), assumed the position of Director General at the CA in September 2021, with a planned 4-year renewable term.
