Keroche to open sales outlets across the country in bid to recover its market share

Keroche Breweries is set to open liquor sales outlets across the country in a move seen as a recovery strategy following the lifting of the embargo on its operations by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

Rift Valley Regional Sales Manager Francis Tallam said the move will help the brewer recover its market share and help recover fully if there are no more disruptions or closures from taxman.

Speaking during the opening of a liquor outlet in Narok town, he said after being out of the market for over one year, the company has lost its base and vigorous marketing strategies have been put in place to recover this including opening of depots countrywide.

Keroche Breweries was shut down for the second time on June 14, 2022 by KRA after the two parties failed to agree on how to settle the outstanding tax arrears amounting to Sh322 million that had prompted the closure of the factory in December 2021.

However, it was reopened on July 17 through a court order pending hearing and determination of a case filed by the brewer. National Bar Hotels Liquor Traders Association of Kenya (BAHLITA) vice chairman Charles Loidima Nasieku thanked the government for restoring operations of Keroche.
