Rwandan authorities have apprehended a 34-year-old suspected serial killer in the capital city of Kigali, following a shocking revelation that more than 10 bodies were unearthed from a hole concealed in his kitchen.

This spine-chilling case has sent shockwaves through the nation, as police and media reports shed light on the gruesome details of the investigation.

According to law enforcement officials, the alleged perpetrator enticed his victims from local bars to his rented residence in a Kigali suburb, where he executed his heinous crimes.

While local media initially reported the discovery of over 10 bodies, an anonymous source within the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) disclosed to AFP that the actual count of victims reached 14.

RIB’s spokesman, Thierry Murangira, refrained from confirming a specific number, emphasizing that “the final tally will be established through forensic examinations.”

The apprehended suspect had initially faced arrest in July on suspicion of various crimes, including robbery and rape, but was released on bail due to insufficient evidence.

Subsequent investigations, however, prompted his re-arrest on Tuesday, leading authorities to search his residence and uncover the shocking scene of bodies concealed in a pit within his kitchen.

The RIB source revealed that the suspect confessed to learning the art of killing by studying infamous serial killers, and shockingly, he dissolved some of his victims in acid.

His modus operandi involved carefully selecting victims, primarily targeting individuals who were less likely to have close family or friends looking out for them.

Murangira, the RIB spokesperson, disclosed that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the killings, and preliminary investigations confirmed that the victims included both males and females.

He described the suspect’s sinister methodology, stating, “He operated by luring his victims, often prostitutes, to his home, where he would rob them of their phones and belongings before strangling them to death and burying them in a pit he had dug in the kitchen of his rented house.”

This shocking revelation has left the community in disbelief, highlighting the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable individuals from such horrors.
