A 28-year-old married woman, Winfred Mueni, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter following the mysterious death of her 30-year-old boyfriend, Titus Njoroge Kimani, during a sexual encounter in Baba Dogo estate, Ruaraka, Nairobi.
According to the police, the incident occurred on September 22. Kimani became unconscious while engaging in sexual activity with Mueni. As a result, he collapsed, hitting his head on the bed, leading to a fatal fracture.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Kimani was pronounced dead. A post-mortem conducted at Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has pressed manslaughter charges against Mueni, emphasizing her status as the last person seen with the deceased. The DPP contends that the police failed to collect samples from Kimani’s body for further testing to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigations revealed that on the night of Kimani’s death, Mueni was at a nightclub in Baba Dogo with her husband. However, her husband departed early, leaving Mueni with her friends.
Kimani joined them later, and the two left together. Mueni informed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) that during their intimate encounter, Kimani experienced difficulty breathing, coughing, and weakness.
According to Mueni’s statement to the detectives, Kimani’s condition worsened, leading to him collapsing and hitting his head on the bed frame before losing consciousness.
Mueni promptly sought help, and Kimani’s colleagues found him naked and unconscious. Despite the efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Following the incident, Mueni was taken into custody after being escorted to Ruaraka police station by colleagues and relatives of the deceased.
