The Director of the National Intelligence Service, NIS, Noordin Haji, led Ijara residents in planting 1000 trees at various places within the Ijara constituency on Monday, following the government’s declaration of Monday as being a tree planting day.
Haji was sworn in on June 14 as Kenya’s top spy after serving as the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
He succeeded Haji his former boss at NIS Philip Kameru who had been at the helm since 2014.
Since then he has chosen to stay out of the lime light just like his predecessors who chose to work in silence.
On Monday, the NIS boss who was accompanied by environmental conservationist, Ambassador Ms. Medina Amin took part in a tree planting seasion.
He asked the residents of Garissa to embrace tree planting in line with mitigating the adverse effects of climate change being experienced in the area.
He planted a tree at Yusuf Haji Girls Secondary School, Alfurqan Orphanage Centre, and County Mix Secondary School.
