A tragic incident is under investigation in Kakamega, where detectives are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a suspect who had been arrested for rape. The lifeless body of the 34-year-old suspect was discovered hanging from the roof of the Marete Police Station cells.
Kakamega Police Commander Joseph Kigen provided initial details, stating that the investigation is ongoing, and experts from the regional headquarters have been deployed to scrutinize the incident of the detainee apparently taking their own life inside the police station.
“The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Kakamega County General Teaching & Referral Hospital, where it awaits an autopsy,” said Commander Kigen during a media briefing.
