Police in Chepalungu, Bomet County, have detained a 72-year-old man following allegations that he used an arrow to fatally injure his 23-year-old grandson during a confrontation.

The incident unfolded when the deceased, Ezra Chepkwony, visited his grandfather Francis Bor’s residence after consuming alcoholic drinks.

In his intoxicated state, Chepkwony reportedly insulted and provoked Bor during their interaction, leading the elderly man to retrieve his bow and arrow with the intention of shooting his grandson.

After an unsuccessful attempt to hit Chepkwony with the arrow, Bor resorted to stabbing his grandson directly with the arrow.

Tragically, Chepkwony succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.

Chepalungu Sub-County police boss Phanton Analo confirmed the incident, stating that the police have seized the suspected murder weapon.

The remains of the deceased have been transferred to Kapkatet Mortuary for storage.
