Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, in collaboration with Kiharu NG-CDF, on Thursday unveiled an ambitious educational program aimed at recognizing and rewarding excellence within the education system in Kahuro and Muranga East counties.
As part of this initiative, the principals of the best-improved schools in each sub-county in these regions will be treated to a five-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai.
Furthermore, teachers excelling in the best-improved subjects per sub-county will be awarded a four-day, fully sponsored trip to Kenya’s captivating coast.
Expressing his commitment to providing equal access to education for all students in Kiharu, the outspoken MP, Ndindi Nyoro, highlighted the program’s focus on supporting all 62 day secondary schools in the constituency.
With a student population exceeding 15,000, the program aims to uplift educational standards.
In an effort to alleviate financial burdens on families, selected schools will witness a reduction in school fees to Ksh. 1000 per term as part of a supplementary support initiative.
Additionally, schools with fewer than 100 students will receive free full uniforms for Form 1 students.
The support extends to a 6-day feeding program for these students, providing daily portions of Uji and rice for three days a week, along with chapatis on the last Friday of every month.
Form One students joining twenty schools under this program will enjoy the added benefit of having their first-term fees entirely covered by the constituency.
Ndindi Nyoro emphasized these measures in a document detailing the meticulous allocation and utilization of NG-CDF funds within Kiharu Constituency.
The funds have been instrumental in renovating and tiling all 112 schools in the area.
Moreover, a portion of the funds facilitated the installation of Cabro in ten public schools, while eight new secondary schools were built and opened.
Bursaries were distributed to various educational institutions, further supporting the local community’s educational needs.
Setting aside a substantial amount, Nyoro disclosed a 100 million fund from the NG-CDF kitty for infrastructure development over the next two fiscal years.
This fund will be directed towards constructing and renovating laboratories, libraries, classrooms, multipurpose halls, and addressing other development needs.
Ensuring holistic development, all secondary schools in the region are set to benefit from tiles and landscaping.
An allocation of Ksh. 20 million has been set aside specifically for purchasing revision materials for all 62 day secondary schools, reinforcing the commitment to nurturing a conducive learning environment.
