In the aftermath of her publicized split from film director Phillip Karanja, actor Catherine Kamau also known as Kate Actress recently made it crystal clear that any prospect of rekindling the flames with her ex-husband is rather slim.
This revelation followed an online stir when Kate shared a heartwarming picture of herself, Phillip, and their daughter during the little one’s fourth birthday celebrations.
The Selina show star, known for her impactful roles, asserted that she and Phillip had definitively moved on from their six-year-long marriage.
But what’s been kept under wraps from the prying eyes of the Kenyan public is Kate’s involvement with another man—Michael Mwangi, the current General Manager at Tribe Hotel.
Apparently the clandestine romance seems to have been flourishing for quite some time, even preceding Kate’s formal separation from Phillip.
After hiding for a while, Michael and Kate have in recent days not shied away from exhibiting their connection publicly, gracing events together, such as the Wash Wash 4 movie premiere by comedian Terence Creative and an event organized by Sol Fest in November 2023.
Their love journey also took them to Lamu Island in June 2023, coinciding with Kate’s ambassadorial role at the launch of Infinix phone.
Insiders suggest that despite the recent revelation, Kate and Michael’s relationship had been burgeoning long before it surfaced in the public domain.
The relationship is also part of the reason that Kate broke up with her husband after he found out that he was being played all along.
Kate and Phillip declared the conclusion of their six-year marital journey in September 2023, vowing to redirect their focus towards co-parenting.
According to a joint statement released by the lovebirds on their Instagram stories on Tuesday, September 19, the couple decided to end their marriage a while ago but decided to keep it private.
“We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and separated. We sincerely request everyone to honour our wishes for privacy for us and our children. Signed Kate and Phil,” the joint statement read.
