An autopsy conducted on the decapitated head of university student Rita Waeni Muendo has revealed that she died from strangulation before her head was severed. Chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor, who performed the autopsy at the City Mortuary, announced that the cause of death was strangulation, followed by decapitation and the subsequent dumping of her body.
The head was found dumped at a dam in Kiambaa, Kiambu County, separate from the primary murder scene. Oduor highlighted the findings, stating that the head had been severed at the neck, specifically at the level of C5 vertebrae. Bruising on the scalp, caused by a blunt object, and fractures on bones were also observed during the autopsy.
The family of Rita Waeni had identified the recovered head based on features such as the forehead, hair, and teeth formation. The autopsy on the head was conducted as part of efforts to establish the circumstances of her death, which occurred on January 13 at an apartment in Roysambu, Nairobi. Detectives are investigating the possibility that Waeni’s killing is connected to ongoing occult activities in the country.
