Renowned business journalist and anchor, Jimmy Mbogoh, is bidding farewell to KTN News, the Mombasa Road-based media house, marking the conclusion of his one-year tenure.
In an emotionally charged farewell message shared on Wednesday, Mbogoh revealed his decision to step away from the anchor chair after a fulfilling year. His departure signifies the end of an era at KTN News, prompting reflections within the media community on his impactful contribution to the station.
Sharing the news on his social media accounts on January 3, 2024, Mbogoh expressed, “To some personal news now, my time at KTN/KTN News has come to an end after what was a very fulfilling year of storytelling.”
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the past year, he added, “We have told stories both locally and abroad in a year that has thrown us some serious curveballs, testing my skill endurance and passion for business journalism. I look back with great joy and pride for what we achieved.”
Expressing gratitude to colleagues, friends, and superiors, Mbogoh also acknowledged their support throughout his journey. “To my colleagues and friends who’ve witnessed the highs and lows of the year with me asanteni sana (thank you) for your support. To my bosses who gave me a chance, I’m truly grateful for the opportunity.”
Mbogoh joined the Standard Group in November 2022 after diverse experiences in the digital media landscape, notably at Kenyans.co.ke, and as an anchor at K24 TV. He had previously disclosed enduring a challenging period before landing the opportunity, stating, “It’s not been easy but I’m grateful to everyone who’s held my hand in one way or another.”
His professional journey included a stint at K24 TV until 2020, marked by management receiving a court order related to breach of contract with journalists. Additionally, he managed his own YouTube channel, Business Hour, hosting discussions with financial experts. At Kenyans.co.ke, he served as a digital business journalist in 2021.
