Baringo remains on edge as two additional individuals were fatally shot by armed bandits in the Yatya area of Baringo North Sub-County on Tuesday evening.

Police reported that the assailants, armed and positioned near the center, ambushed the middle-aged men, unleashing indiscriminate gunfire that claimed their lives on the spot.

The incident heightened tension in the region, prompting locals to flee amidst growing concerns that armed bandits are taking control of the village.

This occurrence follows closely on the heels of another attack earlier the same day when armed bandits targeted a family, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including a man, his wife, and their two-year-old child.

According to residents in the area, the family members were ambushed while en route to a pass-out ceremony, falling victim to a barrage of bullets.

The husband succumbed instantly, while attempts by locals to rescue the wife and child proved unsuccessful as they later succumbed to their injuries.

The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the Baringo County Referral Hospital Mortuary.

The ongoing violence underscores the precarious situation in the region, with the local community grappling with the threat posed by these armed assailants.
