Three individuals, Arjun Chauhan Surya, Aftab Afzal Abass, and Ajmal Amershi Karim, have been brought before the Milimani Law Court on charges of publishing false information, a violation of Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act.

“Earlier today, the three suspects—Arjun Chauhan Surya, Aftab Afzal Abass, and Ajmal Amershi Karim—were arraigned before Chief Magistrates Court No. 5 at Milimani Law Court under CR122/31/2024, Court File No. E090/2024, to enter pleas for the offense of Publication of False Information Contrary to Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act No. 5 of 2018,” said DCI.

The suspects had reportedly gone into hiding after committing the offense, prompting the complainant to file a report at Parklands Police Station.

Following an operation by officers from DCI Headquarters in Mombasa, Kitengela, and Nairobi, the three suspects were apprehended. They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted release on a bond of Ksh 200,000 each, with a surety of a similar amount, or alternatively, a cash bail of Ksh 100,000 along with two contact persons. The case is scheduled for mentioning on February 12, 2024, in Court 5 at Milimani Law Courts, Nairobi.
