Authorities in Rarieda, Siaya County, have initiated an inquiry following the discovery of a presumed human skull found in the waters of Lake Victoria near Kabuong’ beach on Wednesday evening.

The incident was brought to the attention of the police by Magdaline Anyango Nindo, who received information from local fishermen that they had recovered a skull believed to be that of her husband, James Nindo Obiero.

James Nindo Obiero was reportedly attacked and killed by a crocodile in Kabuong village in March 2023, and his body has remained elusive since. Officers from Aram police station visited the location and located the suspected human skull along the lake shore.

Confirming the occurrence, Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo stated that the scene was meticulously processed, and the presumed human skull has been transferred to the mortuary at Madiany sub-county hospital. It awaits identification and confirmation through DNA sampling.
