A set of trainers worn by Michael Jordan has been sold for $8m(£6.3m), says auction house Sotheby’s.
The six individual shoes were worn by Jordan during his six NBA championship wins in the 1990s. The sale has set the world record for game-worn trainers.
According to Wikipedia, Michael Jeffrey Jordan, also known by his initials MJ, is an American businessman and former professional basketball player.
He was born in Brooklyn in February 17, 1963.
MJ played fifteen seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) between 1984 and 2003, winning six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.
Jordan was integral in popularizing basketball and the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s, becoming a global cultural icon.
Michael Jordan’s profile on the NBA website states that “by acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.”
