Residents of Majengo Estate, located on the outskirts of Kericho town stumbled upon the lifeless body of a middle-aged man, suspected to have fallen victim to excessive consumption of illicit alcohol.
Residents were left in shock as they discovered the man sprawled by the roadside, just a short distance away from a notorious spot infamous for brewing and distributing illicit alcohol within the estate.
According to eyewitnesses, it appeared that the man had indulged in a significant quantity of Chang’aa, a potent local brew, which ultimately rendered him incapacitated and led to his tragic demise.
Initially, bystanders mistook his motionless state for a typical drunken slumber, a common sight among patrons of the illicit brewing joint. However, as time passed and the man showed no signs of stirring, suspicions began to mount among the residents.
Upon closer examination, their fears were confirmed as they realized that the man had succumbed to the effects of the potent alcohol.
The authorities were promptly alerted, and the incident was swiftly reported to the Kericho police station. Responding officers quickly arrived at the scene, retrieved the deceased’s body, and transported it to the Kericho referral hospital mortuary for further investigation.
