Police in Likuyani constituency, Kakamega county, are currently investigating the death of a teacher who teaches at Matunda Primary School in the area after his body was stumbled upon by a a passerby in a quarry.
Mr. Mugera Lugado was found deceased on Monday, his body discovered in the quarry located in Lupele village, Soy area. According to reports from residents who arrived at the scene, the body was partly covered by a motorbike believed to belong to the deceased.
Sub-chief Oliver Lukuyani confirmed the incident, stating that the body was stumbled upon by a passing resident. Lukuyani recounted receiving a phone call around 7 a.m., alerting him to the discovery of the body in the quarry.
Notably, a cigarette was discovered in one of the socks worn by the deceased, prompting speculation and raising questions due to Lugado’s purported lack of a history with smoking or alcohol consumption.
“The deceased had no known history of smoking cigarettes or taking alcohol,” remarked Chief Lukuyani.
The body has been transported to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, where it awaits further examination through a postmortem procedure.
Authorities are actively investigating the incident to uncover the circumstances surrounding Lugado’s untimely demise.
