A 17-year-old girl has been taken into custody at Kabarnet Police Station on suspicion of kidnapping a two-year-old boy from Nakuru.
The teenager, hailing from Baringo North, had been employed as a house help for two months. The little boy had been missing for two days before the authorities arrested her alleged kidnapper.
According to the child’s mother, she departed for work on Wednesday morning as usual. Later in the evening, she discovered both the house help and her baby were missing.
The disappearance was promptly reported at Workers Police Patrol Base in Nakuru. Law enforcement officers initiated a search, tracing the suspect’s movements to Eldoret before eventually intercepting her in Kabarnet.
“Waliweza kuona msichana ambaye ni wa miaka kumi na saba akiwa na mtoto na wakadoubt kwamba huyu mtoto ni wake, ndio wakaweza kutupea information,” Baringo County Police Commandant Julius Kiragu stated.
The police are currently preparing charges to be preferred on the baby stealer.
