A driver transporting fish in a van was unfortunately ambushed and killed by gunmen in Maralal, Samburu on Saturday, March 16.
The driver was alone in his vehicle, ferrying fish from Lake Turkana to Maralal when he was fatally shot by unknown assailants.
The attackers seized control of the van and repelled police attempts to approach the scene.
Authorities were notified of the murder by motorcyclists around 7 pm. However, when police attempted to investigate, they faced gunfire from the attackers, compelling them to retreat for the night.
According to police reports, approximately 10 gunmen had taken cover in nearby bushes during the shooting.
The police team, unable to access the scene, returned to the station without retrieving the body.
Subsequently, the attackers abandoned the victim’s body at the scene and fled with some of the fish.
