A bandit attack in Loibornkare, Samburu County took a horrifying turn on Sunday as the assailants raped an 11-year-old girl.

Samburu Central police boss John Mwai told Sauce.co.ke that the armed attackers physically assaulted the victim before committing the heinous act when they found her collecting firewood.

The traumatized girl was taken to Loosuk Health Center by concerned villagers.

John Mwai expressed deep concern over the incident, stating, “The victim is recuperating in the hospital. This is a very traumatic experience for the girl and the entire community. We will keep doing our best to neutralize these gunmen.”

The unfortunate event adds to a disturbing trend. Since the beginning of the year, 16 people have been killed by bandits in the region. Women and children, unfortunately, continue to bear the brunt of these attacks.
