Three suspected bandits were killed in a fierce shootout with security officers in Loima, Turkana. The intense confrontation occurred on Saturday evening at Kangalita in Kalemnyang.
Among the deceased is a notorious bandit wanted for multiple violent crimes. Police reported that he had three pending court cases related to robbery with violence, gang rape, and threats to kill.
Additionally, the 37-year-old was under investigation for various unresolved violent offenses, including highway robberies, stock theft, and possession of illicit firearms within Loima sub-county.
During the operation, security forces also eliminated the close associate and aide of the main suspect. The 39-year-old had been evading authorities since being linked to the killing of a police officer at Kangalita three years ago and an ambush on Lorugum OCS in December of the previous year.
The third individual killed in the shootout was identified as 21-year-old Liya Logumo, believed to be an accomplice of the two notorious bandits. The bodies of the deceased were transported to Lodwar County Referral Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
