Six armed gunmen raided a shopping center in Lochor-Emoit village, Lokichar, Turkana County, on the morning of March 26, killing a businessman and injuring another person. The attackers arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire indiscriminately at the shop premises of Apocho Ekidor. Ekidor was shot in the neck and legs, succumbing to his injuries at the scene.

During the attack, the gang stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing. Another victim sustained injuries to the hand and was rushed to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Police officers responded to the incident and recovered five expended cartridges of 7.62x39mm ammunition from the scene. However, no arrests have been made so far. Ekidor’s body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations into the attack continue.

The incident has heightened concerns over security in Turkana County, an area that has seen increasing cases of armed robberies and bandit attacks.
