A tragic incident at Ramba Boys High School in Rarieda, Siaya County, claimed the lives of two Form Four students after a septic tank collapsed on Saturday evening.
Two other students sustained serious injuries in the 6:00 pm accident.
According to witnesses, more than eight students were standing on the septic tank before it caved in, trapping four of them. While two students escaped, the others were rescued, but unfortunately, two succumbed to their injuries.
The incident sparked student riots, with learners vandalizing school property and blaming the administration, arguing that the tragedy was preventable.
Authorities are investigating the incident to establish responsibility and ensure safety measures are reinforced.
