Migori County — A 19-year-old student, identified as Tony Onyango, tragically lost his life in a road accident on Saturday evening after being hit by a speeding police vehicle at Kanga area along the Migori-Rongo road.

Eyewitnesses say Tony, who was riding a motorcycle and carrying a minor as a passenger, was hit by the vehicle which fled the scene immediately after the crash.

According to South Kamagambo Location Chief David Onyango, the student died on the spot, while the pillion passenger sustained injuries and was rushed to Rongo Sub-County Hospital for treatment.

Chief Onyango revealed that Tony had just left a cyber café, where he was applying for a university course online, when the tragic accident occurred. He further noted that the police vehicle was being driven at a high speed toward Rongo.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with residents calling for justice and accountability for the reckless actions of the officers involved.
