The High Court has reduced the bond for businessman Khalif Kairo from Ksh.2 million to Ksh.500,000, raising hopes for his possible release as early as Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Kairo was arrested last week in connection with allegations of obtaining money by false pretenses. According to police reports, he is accused of defrauding a client over Ksh.1.2 million in a botched luxury car deal involving his company, Kai and Karo. The complainant claims they paid for a high-end vehicle that was never delivered, prompting legal action.
Kairo has denied the charges, terming them as a “misunderstanding” and maintaining that he is cooperating fully with the investigation. “I believe the truth will come out. My record speaks for itself,” he said in a previous statement.
So far, Kairo revealed that Kenyans have raised about Ksh.50,000 to support him. His family and friends are working to secure the reduced bond amount.
Despite the bond reduction, the businessman is still expected to comply with all bail terms as he awaits further court proceedings. The case is scheduled for mention later this month.
