Police in Lang’ata Sub-County have launched investigations into the shocking death of a first-year student at Multimedia University after her body was discovered inside a water tank within the campus compound.
The deceased, identified as Sylvia Kemunto, had been reported missing since Sunday. Her body was found last evening, raising concerns over the circumstances of her death.
Nairobi County Police Commander George Seda confirmed the incident, stating that officers were alerted after students spotted the body in the tank. He revealed that preliminary investigations suggest Sylvia may have been strangled before her body was dumped.
“We suspect the victim was strangulated before her body was stuffed into the tank,” Seda stated.
Authorities are now searching for the victim’s boyfriend, who has gone into hiding. Witnesses claim he was the last person seen leaving Sylvia’s room at Block E within the university.
The body has been taken to City Mortuary for further examination and an autopsy as investigations continue.
