Kenyan singer Akothee, has announced that she has chosen to forgive her younger sister, Elseba Awuor Kokeyo, in an effort to restore peace within their family and mend ties with their mother.
In an emotional open letter to Elseba, Akothee admitted that the decision to forgive was difficult but necessary for her personal growth and well-being.
“It was not easy, but I had to do it for my peace of mind,” she wrote. The singer explained that she had once taken care of Elseba and even introduced her to the limelight before their relationship deteriorated publicly.
Akothee emphasized that her act of forgiveness was not prompted by an apology. “I opted to forgive my sister, not because she asked for it but for the sake of my peace of mind,” she said, noting that she no longer wishes to carry anger in her heart.
She also shared that she had been waiting for Elseba to acknowledge her mistakes but felt that pride had stood in the way.
“I was waiting for her to own up to her mistake, but unfortunately her ego could not allow her,” Akothee added.
