A 70-year-old man has been found dead under suspicious circumstances in Ihururu village, Tetu, Nyeri County, in what police believe to be a case of murder.
The body of Joseph Waweru Ngatunyi was discovered in his compound with visible injuries. According to police, blood was seen oozing from his mouth and nose, and his head appeared severely swollen.
At the scene, investigators recovered a blood-stained wooden object believed to have been used as the murder weapon. One suspect, identified as the deceased’s son, was arrested shortly afterward. He was reportedly wearing clothes stained with blood at the time of his arrest.
The motive behind the killing is still unknown, and police say investigations are ongoing.
The body has been taken to Nyeri County Referral Hospital morgue for a postmortem examination.
