A surprise wave of political support is rising in the North Rift—this time not for a local heavyweight, but for Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho.

During a high-energy fundraiser for women’s groups in Tangulbei, Tiaty Constituency, a group of leaders from the region publicly threw their weight behind Joho, endorsing him as a potential successor to President William Ruto when his term ends in 2032.

Leading the charge was Tiaty MP William Kamket, who declared Joho as a unifying leader with a national appeal. “He has what it takes to lead this country after Ruto. It’s time for ODM to start preparing for the next government,” Kamket said to a cheering crowd.

Backing the sentiment, Kacheliba MP Titus Lotee praised Joho’s inclusive politics and efforts to build bridges across Kenya’s diverse communities—including marginalized groups like the Pokot. “Joho has shown that he is a friend of all people. We are ready to support him in 2032,” he stated.

Joho, known for his charisma and bold political presence, served as Mombasa Governor for two terms and currently heads the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs.
