Officers from the National Police Service (NPS) have recovered a total of 2,350 litres of illicit alcohol during a targeted operation in the Kibera area of Nairobi.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the NPS revealed that the operation led to the confiscation of large quantities of kangara and chang’aa being sold to local residents.
“During the operation, we recovered approximately 2,000 litres of kangara and 350 litres of chang’aa,” NPS stated.
The raid is part of a broader nationwide crackdown aimed at dismantling the production, distribution, and sale of illegal alcoholic beverages. Authorities say the illicit brews pose significant health hazards and contribute to various social issues in communities.
