Kenyan musician Stivo Simple Boy has announced his intention to enter politics, declaring his candidacy for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Kibra Constituency in the upcoming 2027 general election.

The “Freshi Barida” and “Vijana Tuwache Mihadarati” hitmaker revealed that he plans to start his political journey at the grassroots level, with ambitions to rise through the ranks of leadership over time.

“You’ve called me a well-known ambassador of happiness, but I’m also a future leader of Kibra. I want to begin with a small seat and climb up,” Stivo said.

He cited the persistent struggles of young people in Kibra as a key motivation behind his decision to run for office. According to him, many leaders have failed to address real issues affecting the youth, including high unemployment and inadequate bursary support for students.

“Many young people don’t have jobs and no one has ever helped them. Another big problem is bursaries. Some students have never received them, and as a leader, I will step in to help in that sector,” he affirmed.

Stivo also condemned the corruption he says is rampant among elected leaders, claiming it has robbed vulnerable learners of their right to education.

“There are so many things I can do. We are not here to complain. You can’t be elected as a leader and then do nothing. Some leaders just sit back and enjoy the spoils while their bellies grow fat,” he said, criticizing those who misuse public resources instead of serving the people.
