A 60-year-old South African man, Mark Nalon Minter, was found dead in the washroom of his accommodation in Parklands, Nairobi, on the morning of Wednesday, May 7.
According to police reports, Minter had arrived in Kenya on May 1 for a business trip and was scheduled to depart on May 10. He was accompanied by a female companion at the time of the incident.
The woman told authorities that after having dinner, they both went to bed. However, when she woke up the next morning, she realized Minter was not in bed. She later found him collapsed and unresponsive in the toilet.
An ambulance from St John’s Ambulance was called to the scene, but medics confirmed that Minter had already passed away.
Police recovered assorted medication in the deceased’s bag, believed to be used for the treatment of hypertension and diabetes.
Authorities have since launched investigations to determine the cause of death.
