Tears in Chuka as Family Seeks KSh1 Million to Bring Home Daughter Who Died in Qatar

A family in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County, is facing an agonising wait after losing their daughter, Virginia Gacheri, who died in Qatar where she had travelled in search of employment.

Virginia left Kenya about four years ago hoping to build a better life and provide for her young family back home.

But her dream of creating a better future was tragically cut short following her death in the Gulf country.

Her family is now faced with the painful task of bringing her body home for burial — but the cost has become a major obstacle.

The family says it needs approximately KSh1 million to cover the repatriation and other logistical expenses required to transport Virginia’s remains from Qatar to Kenya.

As they mourn their loved one, the family is also deeply concerned about the young children she leaves behind.

Virginia was reportedly a major source of support for her children, making her death not only an emotional loss but also a devastating blow to the family’s livelihood.

Her relatives are now appealing to well-wishers, leaders, humanitarian organisations and anyone willing to help them raise the money needed to bring her home.

For the grieving family, the goal is simple: to give Virginia a dignified farewell on Kenyan soil and allow her children and relatives to say their final goodbye.
