The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Central Police Station, Samson Talaam, has been arrested in Eldoret in connection with the killing of 31-year-old teacher Albert Ojwang’.
Police sources confirmed that Talaam, who had been interdicted, had been on the run since the incident but was finally traced and apprehended.
Following his arrest, Talaam was handed over to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), which is leading the investigation into Ojwang’s death while in police custody.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing probe, which has already seen multiple officers and civilians questioned or arrested, amid claims of a cover-up, including the deletion of CCTV footage at the police station.
Ojwang’s death has triggered nationwide outrage and renewed calls for police accountability.
