Four police officers stationed at Isinya Police Station in Kajiado County were arrested on Wednesday following the escape of a suspect from custody.

According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Brian Achieng, had been apprehended and charged with the offence of stealing. He was caught in possession of 16 kilograms of hard plastic Super Fix glue valued at KSh8,000.

Senior police officers who visited the station confirmed that the suspect escaped lawful custody before he could be placed in the cells. The escape occurred during the booking process, prompting an immediate but unsuccessful manhunt.

In response to the incident, the four officers who were on duty at the time were arrested to allow for investigations into the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s escape. Authorities have launched a probe to determine whether negligence or foul play was involved.
