Ronald Fenty, the father of global music icon Rihanna, has reportedly passed away at the age of 70. According to Starcom Network News, a prominent radio station in Barbados—Rihanna’s home country—Fenty died early Saturday morning in Los Angeles.

While the exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed, the outlet noted that his passing followed a “brief illness.”

As of now, Rihanna has not issued a public statement regarding her father’s death.

Fenty, a Barbadian native, had a complicated but evolving relationship with his daughter, which has occasionally made headlines over the years. Despite past tensions, Rihanna notably supported him during his battle with COVID-19 in 2020, even sending him a ventilator to aid in his recovery.

More details are expected as the family navigates this difficult time privately.
