Police in Kimaeti, Bungoma County, have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman who was assaulted by her father and mother-in-law.

The victim, identified as Adenqueen Mulongo, succumbed to injuries on July 9 while receiving treatment at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital, where she had been admitted two days earlier.

According to police reports, Mulongo was assaulted on July 6 at her home in Kimaeti and later rushed to hospital in critical condition. Her condition deteriorated, and she passed away while undergoing treatment.

Law enforcement officers say the deceased’s father-in-law and mother-in-law are the prime suspects in the brutal assault. The two are currently at large, and police have launched a manhunt for their arrest.

“We are pursuing the suspects, and they will face murder charges once arrested,” said a senior officer at Kimaeti Police Station.

The body has been moved to the local mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
