NAIROBI, Kenya – A chilling case of domestic violence has rocked Kangemi’s Gichagi village, after a 30-year-old woman identified as Dorcas Nyangiri was found dead with a stab wound in her neck, following a fight with her husband over alleged infidelity.
According to police, the incident happened on Monday night, but her lifeless body was discovered Tuesday morning, lying in a pool of blood outside her home.
Eyewitnesses told police that the couple had been spotted together earlier in the evening at a local shop in Kangemi Centre, seemingly calm. However, tensions escalated later at home when the man confronted his wife over claims she was seeing another man.
“He had allegedly bought a knife at the shop and kept it in his pocket,” said one of the police officers familiar with the case.
The confrontation turned violent, and the suspect is said to have stabbed Dorcas in the neck as she screamed for help. The brutal attack ended her life on the spot.
As he attempted to flee the scene, an angry mob caught up with the assailant, stoning and beating him until police arrived to rescue him. He was then rushed to a local hospital under tight security.
The knife used in the murder was recovered from the scene, and investigators from the DCI have launched a murder probe.
“We are treating this as a case of murder and will ensure a full investigation is conducted,” said an officer from the Kabete Police Station.
Dorcas’ body has been moved to the mortuary awaiting a post-mortem. Police are appealing to the public for calm and urging anyone with additional information to assist detectives with the ongoing investigation.
