Maurine Kabu, the CEO of Adequate Safaris and the woman at the center of a storm involving controversial relationship claims with Bonfire Adventures co-founder Simon Kabu, has broken her silence following widespread speculation on social media.
The sensational allegations stem from court filings made by Sarah Njoki Mtalii, Simon Kabu’s estranged wife. In the documents, Sarah alleges that Simon only began referring to Maurine as his “daughter” after the couple’s 15-year marriage ended.
“At no point during our marriage did Simon ever mention that Maurine was his daughter,” Sarah claimed, adding that Maurine currently resides in her former matrimonial home and is benefitting from properties previously co-owned by the couple.
Maurine Responds with Sentimental Post
While Simon has publicly dismissed the allegations as malicious and baseless, Maurine Kabu had remained silent—until now.
In a recent Instagram post, Maurine indirectly addressed the rumors by sharing a heartfelt message alongside a photo of her and Simon at work. She captioned it:
“My dad has been my biggest mentor, the one who shaped who I am. What’s that one unforgettable thing your dad did for you?”
She also shared vacation clips from Zanzibar, where the pair were seen riding horses through shallow waters, laughing, and posing together—images many interpreted as an intentional display of a father-daughter bond.
Father-Daughter Date or PR Move?
Adding fuel to online speculation, videos of the two during a night out dubbed a “father-daughter date” have also surfaced, raising questions among netizens about the authenticity of their familial relationship.
The allegations have ignited heated debates online, with users on platforms such as Tuko.co.ke and Nairobi Gossip Club sharing mixed reactions. Many have sided with Sarah, while others believe the claims are a distraction from an ongoing divorce battle.
Simon Kabu’s Response
Simon has been vocal in denying the allegations, insisting the claims are a “desperate attempt to destroy my character and family legacy.” He has also reaffirmed that Maurine is indeed his biological daughter and not romantically involved with him in any way.
“These are false narratives aimed at tarnishing my name. Maurine is my daughter, and that’s all there is to it,” Simon stated in an earlier interview with Citizen Digital.
