Spanish football prodigy Lamine Yamal is facing growing backlash after his extravagant 18th birthday party allegedly involved the exploitation of people with Dwarfism and hiring of women based on breast size.
The Spanish government has now stepped in, demanding a formal investigation into the event, which reportedly took place over the weekend with about 200 attendees — including friends, family, and teammates of the FC Barcelona star.
According to a bombshell report by Marca, a model named Claudio Calvo claimed that 12 women with a “certain breast size” were paid to attend the party. The event was also mafia-themed, with controversial performances allegedly involving individuals with Dwarfism.
The Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias with Dwarfism (ADEE) issued a strong condemnation, threatening legal action over the party’s nature. Following public outcry, the Spanish Ministry of Social Rights confirmed that the General Director of Disability, Jesús Martín, has formally requested a government probe.
“We are concerned that people with money, people with power, believe themselves to be unpunished. The law is for everyone — for the humble and for the powerful,” said Martín.
He added that Yamal’s behaviour could set a damaging example for impressionable young fans who admire him.
If found culpable, Yamal could face a fine of up to €1 million (£867,000) under Spain’s anti-discrimination and disability rights legislation.
This scandal comes at a pivotal time for Yamal, who has been hailed as the future of Spanish football. With millions of followers on TikTok and Instagram, his off-pitch image has been nearly as influential as his on-field performances. Now, that image risks severe damage.
