Senator Boni Khalwale has accused Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya of allegedly being involved in an affair with Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, claims that have sparked heated debate in political and social circles.
Allegations of Marriage Interference
According to Khalwale, Elsie — who also holds a senior role in Oparanya’s office — reportedly abandoned her matrimonial home shortly after the CS’s Cabinet appointment and is alleged to have secretly moved in with him.
Her estranged husband has accused Oparanya of abusing his influence and position to interfere with their marriage.
Khalwale Goes Public
Senator Khalwale has since gone public with the allegations, directly calling out Oparanya over what he described as “immoral and unbecoming conduct” for a senior government official.
Neither Oparanya nor Elsie Muhanda has publicly responded to the claims.
Political Storm Brewing
The allegations come at a time when political temperatures in Kakamega remain high, with rival camps seizing on the story to attack or defend their leaders.
