In a remarkable show of solidarity, hundreds of Kenyans travelled to Othaya to stand with Kaluma Boy, a popular TikTok creator whose touching videos about caring for his ailing father have captured the hearts of many.

Emotional Appeal Through TikTok

Kaluma Boy has been documenting his father’s health struggles, sharing the challenges of home care after his father fell into a coma and later regained partial consciousness.

In one emotional video, he explained:

“My father has been sick for a year. After falling sick, he went into a coma for three months. He is still unwell but improving. We decided to care for him at home, it’s like he’s in a ward, but at home.”

He further revealed the financial burden, including weekly catheter changes, expensive neurological drugs, and therapy sessions.

Kenyans Mobilize Support

Inspired by his honesty and resilience, Kenyans organized visits to Othaya to offer both material and emotional support. Videos shared online show groups rallying others to contribute towards his father’s medical needs.

Through his content, Kaluma Boy also shows snippets of his daily life—helping his father get sunlight, administering care, and plucking tea from the farm, likely to sustain the household.

A Testament to Community Spirit

The response highlights the power of social media in mobilizing compassion, with Kenyans proving that digital platforms can be used not only for entertainment but also for meaningful support.
