Shock and fear have gripped Joska, Machakos County, after a 54-year-old man was killed in a brutal home invasion by suspected thugs who fled the scene without stealing anything.

Victim Identified as Martin Maina

Police identified the deceased as Martin Maina, who was attacked alongside his wife in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The couple had recently moved into their new home when the gang struck.

Wife Hospitalized in Critical Condition

According to police, the attackers gained entry by breaking window panes and cutting metal grills after scaling the perimeter wall. They then stormed into the bedroom, where they fatally assaulted Maina with sharp objects, leaving him with deep head injuries.

His wife suffered serious injuries from blunt objects during the ordeal and was rushed to hospital, where she is fighting for her life.

Residents in Shock

Neighbors who rushed to the scene said the thugs appeared intent on killing Maina, as no valuables were taken during the incident. The gruesome murder has sparked fear among new landlords in the area, many of whom say they feel unsafe.

Police Launch Manhunt

Police have moved Maina’s body to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination. A manhunt has been launched to track down the assailants, with officers vowing to bring them to justice.
