Four Gor Mahia players were involved in a road accident early Friday morning while heading for their scheduled training session.
The four—Austin Odhiambo, Fidel Origa, Joshua Onyango and Felix Oluoch—were travelling along Outering Road when the accident occurred. All players sustained minor injuries, were treated at a nearby hospital, and later discharged.
The Gor Mahia accident comes at a time when the club has no fixture this weekend following the postponement of the Mashemeji Derby. Gor Mahia were set to face rivals AFC Leopards at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, but the venue was declared unavailable.
The alternative venue, Kasarani Stadium, is also booked as it hosts Nairobi United’s CAF Confederation Cup clash against AS Maniema. As a result, the Mashemeji Derby has been pushed to the following weekend.
Gor Mahia head into the break after suffering a 4-1 defeat to APS Bomet on Tuesday.
