A 34-year-old Kenyan woman has been arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after detectives discovered she had ingested dozens of cocaine pellets in an attempt to smuggle the narcotics into the country.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect, Muli Ayan Ndunge, was intercepted shortly after landing from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) officers, acting on precise intelligence, trailed her discreetly before escorting her to their offices for further scrutiny.
During observation, detectives medically compelled the suspect to discharge 14 pellets of cocaine, followed by another 14, bringing the total number of recovered pellets to 28. The narcotics weighed 912.74 grams, with an estimated street value of KSh3.65 million.
An X-ray scan conducted afterwards confirmed that Ndunge’s abdomen was clear, marking the end of the recovery process.
The DCI says the suspect remains in custody as investigations progress and preparations for her arraignment continue.
