Renowned lawyer and entrepreneur Silas Jakakimba has officially unveiled the name of his new luxury speedboat, christened “The GI’s RAO-001,” in honor of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Jakakimba revealed the name in a social media announcement, noting that the vessel will serve as a central feature of his expanding eco-tourism and hospitality portfolio on Lake Victoria.

“In honour of H.E. Raila Odinga, CGH, I have elected to name this 15-passenger Luxury Tournament Tour & Sport Fishing Speedboat The GI’s RAO-001, instead of the earlier plan to name it MV Dorina-1,” Jakakimba said.

A Symbol of Innovation and Tribute

The RAO-001 is a 15-passenger Luxury Tournament Tour & Sport Fishing Speedboat, built by Tom Cat Boats SA in Durban, South Africa.

Jakakimba shared a video inspecting the sleek vessel, which features modern navigation, entertainment, and safety systems designed for comfort and performance on Lake Victoria.

“For experiences that become memories, this boat and our resorts will be unavoidable on your bucket lists,” he remarked, inviting guests to explore his vision for premium lake-based tourism.

Expanding the ‘GI’ Brand on Lake Victoria

The new vessel is part of Jakakimba’s broader investment in The Little GI Resort on Mfangano Island, and the upcoming GI Eco-Resort and Spa, both envisioned to “redefine luxury and sustainability” in the Lake Victoria region.

The facilities are expected to create jobs, boost local tourism, and position the Nyanza region as a high-end eco-destination for both local and international travelers.

Personal Milestone Amid Life Changes

The unveiling comes months after Jakakimba confirmed his amicable separation from his spouse, Florence Adhiambo, earlier this year — a decision he said was reached “mutually and respectfully” with the support of family and spiritual leaders.

Despite personal changes, Jakakimba continues to channel his focus into entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and honoring figures who have shaped his political and personal journey.
