Police in Buruburu, Nairobi, are investigating the killing of a 41-year-old man who was fatally stabbed on Thursday morning in the estate.
The deceased, identified as Collins Onyango, was reportedly visiting his nephew’s residence when a dispute broke out between him and a 17-year-old girl.
According to police reports, the argument escalated, and the teenager allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Onyango in the neck.
A neighbour who witnessed the incident raised the alarm, prompting a swift response. Onyango was rushed to Edel Vale Trust Jamaa Mission Hospital in Buruburu, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Officers from the National Police Service visited the scene and recovered the suspected murder weapon. Detectives processed both the crime scene and the hospital as part of the investigation.
The body was later transferred to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Following the incident, members of the public attempted to lynch the suspect, leaving her with minor injuries. Police intervened, rescued her from the mob, and took her to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for treatment before placing her in custody.
