Police in Nairobi are investigating a tragic incident in which a 28-year-old woman, identified as Virginia Mwende, died after jumping from the rooftop of an apartment building in the Sunton area of Kasarani.

Authorities said the woman leapt from the fourth-floor rooftop in what is believed to be a suicide. The incident happened on Wednesday, leaving residents of the apartment block shaken.

Family Says She Showed Signs of Depression

According to family members, Mwende had been displaying signs of depression prior to the incident. They said her behaviour had noticeably changed in the days leading up to the tragedy, though they had not anticipated she might take her own life.

Police noted that she accessed the rooftop before jumping off and fatally landing on the ground floor of the building.

Body Taken to Mortuary

Responding officers visited the scene and documented the incident as part of ongoing investigations.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
